Tom Horne has extensive experience in handling appeals matters both in Arizona and up to the Supreme Court of the United States. Tom Horne’s understands the expertise necessary to: defend an appeal, prosecute an appeal, create effective post trial motions, and identify possible issues in pursuing an appeal. In most cases appeals matters originate from a client that Horne Slaton represented at the trial level, however Tom Horne welcomes new cases for the purpose of prosecuting or defending an appeal.
Tom Horne in Appeals Courts:
- Tom Horne served as Arizona’s Attorney General from 2010 to 2014.
- As Attorney General, Tom personally argued cases in the Arizona Superior Court, Arizona Supreme Court, Federal District Court and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- He personally argued for the State of Arizona before the United States Supreme Court in two cases,
Prior to his service in statewide elected office, Mr. Horne was a litigation attorney in private practice for more than 30 years. Early in his practice, Tom was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates, which required documentation of, at a minimum, 25 trials to a jury to conclusion (not settled cases) as first chair lawyer. Tom Horne has developed a statewide reputation for simplifying complex commercial cases for juries.
